REVIEWS: Initial IDM-1731 7″ Portable DVD Player - cNet
With video enabled iPods and other media-less portable video players dominating the news lately, cNet has squeezed in a review of a portable DVD player, the Initial IDM-1731 (someone gets paid to come up with these names…), although they have seen better, giving this one only a 6/10

The good: Low price; crisp picture; long battery life; S-Video output; compact and light; plenty of volume through headphones; car adapter included.
The bad: Awkward battery charging and connection; long battery-charge time; no separate contrast control; remote necessary for many basic functions.
The bottom line: The Initial IDM-1731 portable DVD player offers a budget price and a decent-looking picture, making it a solid choice.
For us, the portable DVD player is still a very useful device, one because they have large screens and two, you don’t have to spend any time uploading your movies so can be more reactive in what you watch. There’s life on the old portable DVD player yet. Our own experience are they are a godsend for long car trips, and can prevent car sickness.
