New Launches reports on an interesting iPod accessory that has been getting some publicity lately, the tie with built in iPod shuffle carrier:

Apple may be one the most innovative companies on the planet, but we cannot forget the iPod accessory makers who have always amazed with their ingenious products. To complement the iPod jacket and Levis iPod jeans here is the iPod Tie however it’s official name is Pink Commuter tie. Billed as the latest solution for today’s busy man who needs to carry more than one gadget at any one time, the tie features a pocket on the reverse of the tie which securely holds the iPod Nano, allowing the busy executive to check his appointments, grab a coffee or track his bluechips. There’s also an extra fabric loop to keep wires out of sight and close to the body.

Currently only available in the UK and for £49.

The Gadget Blog report on another gimmicky MP3 player, the Shiro Soccer Ball MP3 player, though no word on the memory:

ChipChick report the availability of a rather unusual MP3 player, the Sungale MP3 Watch:

The problem with many mp3 watches is that they tend to be ugly and bulky. Here is one whose classic-looks would never let you guess it also played mp3s.  This Mp3 watch available from First Street also has a built-in voice recorder, it weighs 8 ounces, is water resistance, has a Citizen Quartz Mechanism, comes with retractable headphones, and it has a decent 10 hour battery life.  Unfortunately it only has 256MB of memory inside. The watch retails for $139.95.

Seems to us that having your ears and wrist tethered to each other would become quite annoying. That said, with wireless earphones this could be really popular.

TechEBlog reports of an MP3 player designed like teddy bear from Tomy, best known for their toys.

Undeniably cute and expensively priced. Tomy’s “Teddy Bear MP3 Player” boasts just 128MB memory and only supports MP3/WMA audio playback. On the plus side, it has USB connectivity and gets up to 8 hours of continuous use on 1 AA battery

The earphone jack shoved into his head looks a bit uncomfortable for the poor fella, but the alternative doesn’t bear thinking about!

Anything But iPod have reviewed the MobiBLU DHH-220 MP3 player:

The user interface is frustrating at first. It does not work intuitively, which makes it the biggest set back to the DHH-200. However, once you get used to it, it becomes less of an issue. Video playback is a nice extra to have, but the performance is sub par due to the poorly encoded audio playback. I really love the size of the DHH-200. It is a great size for an 8GB MP3 player, making it small enough to fit in your pocket but big enough to comfortably use it. This player will appeal to those who love features, as this MobiBLU has plenty. This player also does very well at recording and encoding. Overall it is a decent player and should be considerd if you are looking for a Microdirve based MP3 player.

Playlist have reviewed the MobiBlue DAH-1500i MP3 player, rating it only a 3 out of 5:

Pros: Easy to use out of the box; ultra-compact form-factor great for traveling light; great voice- and FM-recording capabilities; innovative combination headphone and lanyard design; EQ presets and custom setting plus SRS option help songs sound even sweeter.

Cons: No iTunes integration; small buttons and display make navigation difficult; display shows filenames rather than artist and track info; poor FM reception.

cNet review the Philips GoGear Jukebox HDD1630 MP3 player, a 6GB little sibling to the HDD6330, giving it on 7/10 although user satisfaction has been higher, at 8/10:

The good: The attractively priced Philips GoGear HDD1630 boasts a sharp, full-color display, and it’s loaded with features such as an FM radio and a voice recorder. The included earbuds are surprisingly decent.

The bad: The Philips GoGear HDD1630’s glossy, black surface is highly smudge prone, and the touch-sensitive controls are ultrasensitive. The player’s processor isn’t always up to speed.

The bottom line: The Philips GoGear Jukebox 6GB (HDD1630) will please penny-pinchers and patient power users alike, but if you demand a speedy processor in your MP3 player, look elsewhere.

New Launches tell of an ultra thin MP3 player from Sherwood, the Digital Audio Card:

Korean manufacturer Sherwood has introduced the world’s slimmest MP3 player only 5 mm thick. It is about the size of a credit card and has a LED display which can show only 2 digits at a time. With such a small display you can only expect it to show track number and volume and forget about track information, playlist etc. It’s battery provides only 8 hours of continuous playback time. The Sherwood Digital Audio Card has interchangeable faceplates for customization. No information if it has onboard Flash memory or supports memory cards. There are no controls on the MP3 player, controls are provided on the wired remote control.
Sherwood’s Digital Audio Card measures 5 x 61 x 91mm and weighs 49 grams. Though it’s slim form factor is appealing it’s lack of features may make you think twice before getting one.

PC Magazine have reviewed the Creative Zen Vision:M and also found it to be a worthy iPod alternative, giving it 4.5/5:

Bottom line: The Zen Vision:M is our new favorite iPod alternative and should appeal to lots of people, but we have a feeling it’s still not going to sway the iPod-loving masses.

Pros: Good design. Excellent screen. Very good audio and video quality. Broad feature set.

Cons: Short battery life. Requires a dongle to sync, charge, and output to TV
