Gizmodo report on something a little different and exciting, the tiny Explay Nano Projector:

xplay, not to be confused with a certain TV show that has seen quite a drop in quality in recent months, has successfully tested their nano-projector engine, a method of safely projecting “always focused” images from mobile devices, such as cellphones and portable media players. It is the first such projector that offers full color in a small, match book-sized body.

Apple finally conceded to the FM tuner push of MP3 players by releasing their own add on FM tuner, but only for the latest iPods:

MACWORLD EXPO, SAN FRANCISCO—January 10, 2006—Apple® today announced the iPod® Radio Remote which combines the convenience of a wired remote control with new FM radio capabilities for the iPod nano and fifth generation iPod. The iPod Radio Remote is a convenient way for music lovers to skip tracks and adjust the volume of their iPod even when it’s in a pocket or backpack, and listen to FM radio stations while displaying station and song information on their iPod screen.

It had to happen and SeattlePI report that a wearable LCD screen “that can turn video iPod into big-screen TV for one”. One eye that is.

Bellevue-based eMagin Corp. has developed a wearable headset system that plugs into Apple Computer’s portable media device and displays video from it in front of one eye, using optical technology designed to give the picture a higher resolution and make it appear larger than on the iPod’s screen

These things won’t be cheap either - cost US$599. Until they fit both eyes out and incorporate it into a set of sun glasses, you can’t imagine this being too popular. But it’s a start.
