cNet has review the iRiver E10, giving it an excellent 8.4/10
Irivere10

The good: Shockwave Flash support; above-average battery life; intuitive UI; blazing fast transfer speeds; built-in TV remote.
The bad: Limited video format support; lack of bundled video conversion software; proprietary data cable.
The bottom line: At S$449, the 6GB E10 offers astonishing value with a good balance of features and performance.

MP3 Players: Replacing the iPod interface with Rockbox - CNET reviews

cNet review a replacement operating system for your iPod or other MP3 player, called Rockbox, that brings a lot of new features:
Rockbox

In its current state, the Rockbox interface is utilitarian, graphically sparse, and reminiscent of a command-line system, and it lacks the flash of modern commercial MP3 players. But where it comes up short in pizzazz, it more than compensates in options and settings, many of which would make the default iPod jealous. Using RockPod is fun

This is an interesting project that will be well worth follwoing.

Portable Game Players: iRiver Game/PMP

This will be one to watch at CES. MisticRiver have spotted this rather sensational looking little player from iRiver, which DAPReview have dubbed the G10:
iriver g10

This just in, iriver will be unveiling its newest gadget at CES. We don’t have a name for it or many specs but it looks kinda cool. Apparently will be run by Windows CE and have 4-8gigs of storage. A slideout button pad is also very apparent.

Will it be a serious contender to the Nintendo portable players?

MP3 Players: iRiver D20 Dictionary

And now for something different - the classic Monty Python line. UberGizmo have reported the release of a new Mp3 player that centers around a dictionary and eBook reader.
Iriver-D20

Reigncom/iRiver has produced a rather queer hybrid gadget by mixing learning together with entertainment. The D20 is not a large die, but an electronic dictionary with built-in MP3 player, FM radio, personal organizer and eBook reader. You can view photos or read eBooks off the 4.3 inch, 260K color TFT LCD screen and perhaps brush up on your vocabulary. The D20 supports MP3, WMA, OGG

This actually sounds like a rather good idea. Now when you’d rather read (or have to) than listen to music, you can and using the same device.

MP3 Players: iRiver H10

TG Daily provide a “teardown” as they call it, of the iRiver H10, 5GB Mp3 player. This is a more technical review than most you’ll see, more about what’s inside the box, than how it plays:
iRiver H10 MP3 Player

The iRiver H10 5 GByte MP3 player is the real challenger out there for Apple’s mini lineup, or for that matter most of Apple’s similar MP3 products at competing densities. The only design details that the H10 has similar to Apple is it’s compelling ‘look and feel’ styling, as you can appreciate as soon as you pick up the H10. Not to be outdone, iRiver has also used touch control for the interface and ups the ante by including voice recording capabilities and FM radio. Although the mini has since been removed from Apple’s MP3 Player line up, the iRiver H10 was a solid competitor to the best available MP3 player at the time.

It should be noted, as TG Daily did, that the article content extracted from Semiconductor Insights’ MP3 Player Design Win subscription service. Visit Semiconductor Insights at www.semiconductor.com.

MP3 Players: iRiver U10

Came across this recent review of the popular iRiver U10 by the HiFi Blog. :
 iRiver U10

Overall, this is a great and (relatively) powerful device but what kills it is the high price tag. 1GB costs $249, this is what a 4GB Nano costs (never mind the fact that it doesn’t play videos). Maybe they should start working on a micro-HDD based device? I could see myself paying the same amount for 4 gigs of storage, even if it meant slightly larger dimensions and a possibly smaller battery life (28 hours are high enough so that a small reduction wouldn’t hurt anyone); both of which are to be expected when going from Flash memory chips to hard drives.

Portable Media Players: iRiver U10 1GB

EverythingUSB provide an indepth review of the iRiver U10 portable media player, drawing the same concluson we have. More memory please!
Iriver U10-1

Pros: Multi-function extravaganza; tiny, excellent interface and controls; superb battery life.
Cons: Limited to 512MB or 1GB; expensive; video limited to 15fps in a single format.
Verdicts: Ultra-cool and ultra-capable, but the limited storage capacity makes it hard to justify the price.

MP3 players: iRiver U10 (1GB)

cNet provide an indepth review of the iRiver U10 (1gB) MP3 player, giving a pretty decent 8.3 out of 10.
Iriver U10-4

The good: Wonderfully sleek and stylish design; unique and intuitive interface; supports OGG files and subscription content; includes FM radio, voice recorder, alarm clock, and SRS Wow sound effects; photo, video, and text viewing; great battery life.
The bad: Expensive; maximum capacity is 1GB; no autoplay; no album art; useful cradle is sold separately.
The bottom line: The pricey iRiver U10 is a superbly designed MP3 player that is both easy to use and packed with pretty much every feature in the book. But Apple won’t be quaking in its boots until iRiver ups its capacity to 2GB and 4GB.
