The capacity isn’t that impressive for the money but with its good-in-the-hand feel and funky colouring, the JVC Alneo XA-F57 has charm enough to raise itself above the run-of-the-mill. If you need line-in and WMA support it’s worth considering - if not, buy an iPod nano.

Gizmodo provide comment on the JVC 6GB DAP

JVC jumps into the Digital Audio Player scrum with its Alneo XA-HD500 player, boasting a 6 gigabyte hard drive and 30 hours of playback. Comes with a dedicated docking system and remote control and includes a backlit LCD, four digital surround sound listening modes and the use of JVC’s proprietary K2 technology (which the company claims is a huge audio enhancement featured in all JVC home audio components as well as JVC recording studios). Basically K2 should help get back all information lost when music is compressed to WMA or MP3 files. But really, let’s not mince words. When it comes right down to it, I like the Alneo XA-HD500 cause it’s $249.

Visually is rather ugly though .
