MP3 Players: Samsung NeXus 25, NeXus 50 - Reviews by CNET

CNET review the Samsung NeXus 25 MP3 player giving it only 6.7/10:
Samsung Nexus 50

The good: Small and light, Samsung’s Nexus 50 provides space for up to 50 hours of digital music (25 hours for the Nexus 25), as well as recorded XM radio programming. The easy-to-use Nexus ships with a decent set of accessories, and the dock’s small, removable XM receiver can be used in a variety of scenarios and locations.

The bad: The Samsung Nexus’s monochrome screen and capacity are uninspiring, and the unit needs to sit in its cradle to receive XM broadcasts; plus, its Windows-only Napster/XM software is frustrating to use. Worse yet, it runs out of power after just more than 7 hours of listening.

The bottom line: The Samsung Nexus is no bigger than most digital music players, and Samsung adds satellite radio to the mix with a cradle-bound XM radio, but you can listen to live radio only when the Nexus is docked. In addition, it comes up short on battery life.

MP3 Players: Samsung YP-U2 - review by cNet.

cNet review’s Samsung’s YP-U2 MP3 player, giving it a 7.7 overall:
Samsung Yepp Yp-U2

The good: The affordable Samsung YP-U2 is a supercompact MP3 player with a convenient plug-in USB design; it includes an FM tuner, a voice recorder, subscription compatibility, a legible LCD, and an intuitive interface. Plus, it features an extensive set of equalizer and DSP sound settings. Sound quality is quite impressive, but there is a caveat.

The bad: We’re not thrilled with the placement of the headphone jack, the so-so battery life, the subpar voice-recording quality, and the audible clicks when starting or stopping a song. Additionally, the Samsung YP-U2 does not ship with a lanyard or an armband, and it currently maxes out at 512MB.

The bottom line: Despite some minor issues, the simple but feature-friendly YP-U2 from Samsung will be a hot seller, thanks to a sweet price and great overall sound quality. It’s a good choice for budget-minded users looking for their first MP3 player.

MP3 Players: Samsung Yepp YP-U1X

The Samsung Yepp YP-U1X MP3 player has been reviewed by PC Magazine, receiving 3.5 out of 5:
Samsung Yepp YP-U1X

The Samsung YP-U1X is a nicely designed 512MB flash player that supports a wide array of file formats, produces very good audio, and has a mostly intuitive interface. It doesn’t have an abundance of extras, but at just $84.99 (list) for the 512MB version, it’s a better deal than many other players. (You can get a 1GB version, the YP-U1Z, for $129.99.)

Broad file-format support and good sound quality for the price make the U1X a solid choice among small flash-based audio players.

Easy to use. Broad file-format support. Very good audio quality. Customizable track-skip buttons. Very light.

Doesn’t work with subscription services. Doesn’t ship with a USB extender cable or AC charge

Portable DVD Players: Samsung DVD-L70

Samsung’s DVD-L70 portable DVD player has been favorably reviewed by PC Magazine and as a parent… I can relate to theor sentiments.
B2C M Dvdl70

Samsung bills the DVD-L70 as an affordable, 7-inch widescreen DVD player that two people can share in the backseat. We’d call it a $200 insurance policy that keeps the kids from watching DVDs on your $1,500 laptop. And later if not sooner, they’ll either spill soda into the mechanism, the family dog with the pea-size bladder will mistake it for a patch of green grass, or it will be slammed against something hard in the “Hey, I had it first” tussle. Maybe the better term is collision deductible

Bottom line: An affordable 7-inch-display portable DVD player from a name you’ve heard of with a reasonable, if small, picture.
Pros: Affordable DVD player. Two headphone jacks. No installation hassles. AC and 12 volt transformers.
Cons: Others cheaper. Short battery life (2:42; sibling DVD-L75 is better). Smallish screen.
